Hái-Hong Thàu is a cultural event initiated by local youth in Kouhu.
The name comes from the Taiwanese phrase “透海風” (Thàu-hái-hong), referring to the sea breeze that shapes the coastal environment.
Through guided tours, food experiences, and performances, the project brings together local culture, landscape, and contemporary artistic practices into a shared, site-specific experience.

Located in Chenglong Village, Kouhu, the event takes place by the Chenglong Wetlands.
Formed after Typhoon Wayne in 1986, the area gradually became a subsided wetland.
In recent years, ecological restoration has brought new life to the landscape, where nature and local culture exist side by side.

Cultural Performances
WHEN THE ROOSTER CROWS,
SOMEONE COMES ASHORE
An immersive performance inspired by the Qian Shui Zhuang ritual in Kouhu.
A Taoist figure summons the souls of shrimp ashore, guiding them through a ritual of transformation into hybrid bodies.
Blending contemporary dance, real-time visuals, and electronic sound, the work unfolds across a shifting landscape of movement and image.
Moving between indoor and outdoor spaces, the audience follows an unfixed path with the performers.
From the opening of a factory door to the final moment inside a container, the performance traces a passage through arrival, burning, and rebirth.
The night closes with a live sound set.
Moving between noise, rhythm, and ambient textures, the sound drifts across the site, carrying the audience through a final passage beyond language.
